Jimdo is a webpage building company whose strength is in their innovative templates and their easy-to-use software. They require no coding for their drag-and-drop “inline” editing, where anyone can add photos and text to make their webpage in minutes. Their templates are all mobile-device optimized. Plus, contrary to their competitors, Jimdo actually has its own app. Their iOS and Android app makes editing even easier by putting the web-building interface right in the user’s hands.

What We Like

introductionJimdo uses tools that would be costly, or premium plugins, elsewhere. The Pro plan uses SEO and e-commerce tools for much less of a subscription price than their competitors. They don’t skimp on those features, either—the e-commerce tools especially come with their own subset of features, like a decent item amount, e-mail response software, inventory tracking, discount codes, promotional tools and others.

Besides which, their templates are all around incredibly well designed and available for all users—many, for free. Some “free” competitors come with hidden prices and other later fees, but Jimdo is a free web-building tool that lets you create a beautiful webpage, at minimum, for personal use or small businesses.

What We Didn’t Like

icon-questionJimdo could offer more social media contact options. They have their full customer support system and Twitter account, but it would be interesting to see what other social media accounts would serve, especially internationally.

There’s also no clear way to get rid of the Jimdo ads on the Free plan, because free sites are Jimdo sub-domains and not personally owned domains. The Pro plan isn’t that much more costly, just to have your own domain, no ads and a whole host of tools, but those with free sites will need to keep the Jimdo tags in mind.

featuresJimdo comes with a whole host of features, professional templates and others that can make any website for any use. Their templates are divided into “Business,” “Store,” “Portfolio” and “Personal” use, with features for each that really make the templates stand out and serve their designated purpose.

All plans come with build-in social media tools for Facebook, Google+, Twitter and Pinterest. Their share buttons exceed this range and extend to other networks, so that you can link your page to other existing social media accounts. Other companies tend not to highlight their social media reach. Users can also add blogs to any site—they have their own blogging platform.

Users can add photos into the inlaid templates, but also upload videos and integrate Google Maps. They have contact form templates and code, are equipped for file downloads and password-protected pages, and is powered by HTML 5, which allows for further widgets, features and plugins.

Of course, all their plans come with high storage and bandwidth capacities, starting at 500 MB and ranging to unlimited in each, depending on your package and website size.

pricingTheir first platform is an entirely free website, which gives users one free jimdo.com subdomain they can customize for their needs. This will be a great option for those that just need one personal use website to get off the ground.

For businesses and those that need a bit more, there are two other price plans: the JimdoPro and the JimdoBusiness. The Pro comes with one custom domain, one e-mail account, customer support, analytics and stats, no ads from Jimdo, mobile optimization, SEO tools and e-commerce capabilities for 15 products, all for just $7.50/month billed annually. Business comes with two custom domains, a business e-mail package with multiple e-mails, priority support, analytics and statistics, mobile optimization and advanced SEO tools, a complete e-commerce store, popular widgets and mobile express, for just $20/month billed annually.

Control Panel

controlpanelAll users can edit their template via Jimdo’s template tools—this is by and large their control panel. Users can pick the template they need and use the design elements Jimdo supplies in their sidebar menu. Upon login, no matter the account, users will see a side bar of icons that lead to different menus, including design, template, analytics, questions and help, etc.

Other control panel options include accessing your blog, if you choose to include one, where you can see your blog posts and blog designs, your web settings, archived e-commerce orders and specs, site statistics, upgrade options, SEO tools, affiliate tools and the affiliate panel and the help button.

Customer Support

supportThe Jimdo customer support team has its own page, but encourages use of its extensive knowledge base and FAQ section. They believe users can find many solutions using its well-allocated resources. If not, however, they would be happy to help. First, users pick the “support type,” divided based on accounts and other problems. From there, users can submit e-mails, or use the Live Chat Support from 9 AM-5 PM PST. Users can also see the live chat bubble from the bottom right hand corner of the web page.

Jimdo also checks their social media accounts. Users that want a fast response can check their Twitter handle and send them questions and comments.
